The Durango Adult Education Center (DAEC) provides affordable and effective education to young adults (17) and adults over 18. Our programs would not be possible without the tremendous, generous support we receive from local organizations and ordinary local people. In our Spring 2022 Newsletter, we detail the benefits of our free services our Centers in Durango and Cortez provide with individuals and how these benefits ripple across the entire community. Many in this community have gone on to become successful entrepreneurs who contribute to the overall economic vitality of the region. Adults who complete a high school equivalent program to earn a GED break past the many barriers that would otherwise trap them in low-wage and low-skill employment. They can take a more active role in the community and in their children’s education.

Adults who acquire or improve English as a second language buoy the financial security of their entire household. Since the Adult Education Center was founded in 1987, it has proved to be a bulwark of equitable education opportunities.
